27 September 2026Yesterday, a land dedication and signing ceremony was held at Toge in Ba for the Toge Seventh-day Adventist Church Company, marking an important step forward in establishing a permanent place of worship and ministry in the community.
The land was gifted to the Church in 2023 by the late Mr. Patemo Rauvi , who was not an Adventist. His decision to provide the land for the construction of a Seventh-day Adventist church was made with the understanding that the property would remain under Church ownership permanently.
Following Mr. Rauviβs passing, leadership of the Mataqali of Naqata is now with his brother, Mr. Akariva Biaunibulu, the Turaga ni Mataqali. The change in leadership has not affected the Mataqaliβs decision to honour the original commitment to provide the land for the construction of the Adventist Church.
Toge Church Company is a branch of Balevuto Seventh-day Adventist Church, its mother church. While the land was gifted in 2023, the signing ceremony formally marked the transfer of the land title to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Fiji Mission President Pr. Epeli Saukuru witnessed the occasion and led a special prayer over the land, the Mataqali and the Toge Church. He was joined by General Secretary Pr. Senitiki Waqa, Ministerial Secretary Pr. Leone Tubuna, Personal Ministries and Sabbath School Director Pr. Maika Vakamelei, and Property Manager Mr. Ilimo Tulevu.
Assistant Church Elder Mr. Joseva Cakobau expressed his joy at the occasion and gave thanks to God for His leading in the development of the church and its ministry in the Toge community.
The ceremony stands as a reminder that the work of establishing a church is strengthened when communities, families and church members unite around a shared commitment to make space for worship, fellowship and the Gospel.
