Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, to its chapel yesterday. Elder Douglas is currently in Fiji as a guest speaker for the ๐๐ถ๐ท๐ถ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ evangelistic campaign in Lautoka.
Speaking to students, faculty and staff from Elder Douglas encouraged the Fulton community to trust God completely with their future rather than relying solely on their own understanding.
Drawing from his personal journey, Elder Douglas shared how he grew up as a pastorโs son in Jamaica and initially considered studying medicine before eventually pursuing business. Following graduation, several applications to organisations were unsuccessful. The opportunity that opened was at the General Conference Treasury Department, where he began serving on August 4, 1986.
Looking back, Elder Douglas recognised that the doors that appeared to be closed were ultimately part of ๐๐ผ๐ฑโ๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, leading him towards the purpose God had prepared for his life. His journey eventually led him to become Chief Financial Officer of the General Conference in 2021, and he has since marked four decades of service to the Church. He was also ordained to pastoral ministry along the way.
Fulton Adventist University Vice-Chancellor ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ expressed appreciation for Elder Douglasโ visit and acknowledged the General Conferenceโs support towards the construction of the University chapel. Elder Douglas also affirmed his support for Fulton and its future building projects. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, delivered the vote of thanks.
The message left the Fulton community with a timely reminder:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.โ Proverbs 3:5โ6, NKJV
