Children’s Ministries Leaders Encouraged to Sow Seeds of Faith

Children’s Ministries leaders were encouraged and inspired during a special training session focused on strengthening their ministry to children.

The guest speaker, Nilde Itin, Associate Director for Children’s Ministries at the General Conference, expressed great joy and gratitude for the opportunity to visit Fiji and support the work of Children’s Ministries. She commended the dedication and commitment of Children’s Ministries leaders at the Fiji Mission, Trans Pacific Union Mission, and local church level.

Sharing from John 6:4–14, the story of the Feeding of the Five Thousand, she reminded leaders that although our resources may seem small, when they are surrendered to God, He can bless and multiply them for His work.

She also acknowledged that Fiji is richly blessed with many Children’s Ministries resources and materials that can be used to help nurture children in their spiritual growth.

Using the Parable of the Sower, she highlighted the importance of faithfully planting the seeds of God’s Word in the hearts of children. Leaders were reminded to prepare the soil by building relationships and creating a welcoming environment, plant the seed by teaching God’s Word faithfully, and continue nurturing children through love, care, encouragement, and follow-up.

Sabbath School teachers were encouraged to make sure children clearly understand the lessons being taught. They were also reminded that learning takes time and requires patience, consistency, and perseverance.

Ms. Itin challenged teachers to study their lessons well so they can teach with confidence, clarity, and effectiveness.

She also emphasized that God desires children to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and socially. For this reason, leaders gather for training to develop their God-given talents, strengthen their skills, learn new ideas, and renew their focus for ministry.

Leaders were encouraged to reflect the character of Christ by being gentle, peaceful, loving, kind, and patient.

The message concluded with a reminder that as Christ develops these qualities in His people, they will be better equipped to serve children with joy, compassion, and a genuine smile. These qualities will also help leaders prepare well for Fiji for Christ.
