Approximately 400 members registered for the first combined Adventist Senior Living (ASL) church service, bringing together senior members from Central Eastern Regions I and II at the Cakau Multipurpose Hall.
The gathering provided an opportunity for senior church members to worship together, strengthen fellowship and reaffirm their commitment to serving God regardless of age.
Fiji Mission President, ๐ฃ๐ฟ. ๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐ธ๐๐ฟ๐, challenged the congregation to follow the example of Caleb, who, at 85 years old, declared, โGive me this mountainโ (Joshua 14:12).
The President’s message emphasised that growing older does not mean losing one’s purpose in God’s mission. Like Caleb, senior members were encouraged to remain courageous, faithful and actively involved in serving the Church and their communities.
The programme also highlighted the importance of purposeful living, drawing on the message that the greatest tragedy is not death itself but living without a purpose. Members were encouraged to maintain a positive outlook and remain active, embracing the principle of growing through service rather than withdrawing into inactivity.
During the closing Sabbath programme, ๐ฃ๐ฟ. ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ reinforced Caleb’s example and challenged those present to respond personally to God’s continuing call.
He invited members who were willing to declare, like Caleb, โGive me this mountain,โ to stand. The congregation responded by standing together, expressing their willingness to continue serving God.
The gathering concluded with appreciation to Fiji Mission for its support of Adventist Senior Living and its commitment to encouraging senior members to remain active participants in the life and mission of the Church.
